Kolkata: People across the nation have gotten used to staying home in the last two months and now that workplaces are finally opening up, the public is taking a while to adjust in the post lockdown and COVID-19 times.

People sceptical to risk travel by public transport

People in Kolkata, however, are also hesitant to travel by the public transport not only because it's been a while but also because the coronavirus scare has left everybody in a state of awareness about their surroundings being clean and hygienic.

Nonetheless, the office-goers in Kolkata have found different ways to help themselves safely avoid public transport and still resume their work as the government has now eased the lockdown restricts to a great extent.

Partial work from home to avoid travel

While many people are finding ways to commute, some have also resorted to a partial work-from-home arrangement where they can go to the office for just a couple of days in a week and can work out of their homes for the rest.

According to a report in the Times of India, a worker said that he and other two people - all of whom work in the same office have been pooling in for a car for a ride to the office. Meanwhile, another employee has asked her employer to let her work from home for at least two days in a week so that she can avoid travel

Another person who works in a cafe told TOI that he cycles from his home to his workplace every day. Another worker has taken to walking to his workplace since his workplace is just 5 kilometres from his place.

India is currently in its first phase of unlocking after four phases of nationwide lockdown owing to the widespread of the COVID-19 infection across the country.
