Ludhiana: A financier was left severely injured after a man shot him at the time he was out for a morning walk with his dog on Thursday in Daba village of Ludhiana. The firing was reportedly a result of a tussle that had occurred about 10 months ago when the victim had allegedly urinated outside the shop of the accused.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Sharanpal Singh, a property dealer and had suffered a bullet injury on his head. A local resident raised an alarm after hearing the gunshot at 7.37 am following which Sharanpal was rushed to a private hospital. The CCTV footage recovered from a camera installed in the area revealed that a man with his face covered with a handkerchief fired and fled from the spot. However, the face of the assailant was captured at the time he was escaping.

Daba Police Station House Officer Pavittar Singh told TOI that the accused was identified as Pawan Kumar who used to be the victim's neighbour. He had gone abroad and had only returned to India about 2 years ago.

Around 10 months ago, Sharanapal had peed outside Pawan's shop which was followed by an argument resulting in a brawl. Sharanpal was even then thrashed by Pawan and his accomplices. The matter had reached to the police and both the parties had also reached a compromise. Pawan was reportedly then disowned by his parents. He had harboured a grudge against Sharanpal after the incident. A case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act was registered.
