Haryana man rapes social media friend after proposing marriage
The accused and the victim were friends on Facebook since last year. Asking her to marry him, the accused called the victim to a hotel in a village in Haryana where he allegedly raped her.
Chandigarh: After making a promise to marry a girl, a man from Haryana allegedly raped her. The 21-year-old woman was raped by the accused after he asked her to marry him. The two became friends on Facebook a year ago and as their friendship solidified, the accused proposed marriage to the woman.
The accused hails from Haryana and asked the woman to marry him after being friends with her on Facebook for over a year. The man allegedly raped the woman on pretext of marrying her.

The accused had allegedly asked the woman to meet him at a hotel in the village Daria, where he raped her. After the incident, he stopped taking the calls of the woman and later refused to marrying her. Aggrieved with the same, the victim filed a complaint at the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) window against the accused.
After she filed a complaint, the SSP directed the Industrial Area police station to take up the inquiry. A medical examination of the woman was conducted before recording her statement in front of the magistrate. A case has been registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused but his arrest has not been made yet.
Another incident of rape was reported when a cab driver allegedly used fake credentials to rape a 26-year-old woman. The cab driver who was identified as Aarav Yadav was employed with cab service provider, Uber and was arrested after the victim filed a complaint with the Greater Noida police. The accused was using the details of a man named Joginder while driving the cab.
