Bengaluru: A renowned history-sheeter was murdered in the city of Bengaluru in broad daylight by as many as six armed men on Thursday. City police told media outlets that Lakshman was attacked with lethal weapons near ISKCON temple which led to his death. A case has been registered in this regard at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station.

According to reports, five to six men in a four-wheeler followed Lakshman's car. They ambushed the deceased's vehicle near ISKCON temple where they sprayed chilli powder on him before charging at him with sharp lethal weapons, a city police official told media personnel. This crime seems to be motivated by a gang rivalry from the past, he added.

Lakshman was released from prison just two days ago after a police raid at his residence led to the discovery of incriminating documents and unaccounted cash. Lakshman, along with his brother Rama were declared notorious criminals by the Kengeri police station and had several cases against them. The brutal murder in broad daylight has raised serious questions at the law and order situation in Bengaluru. An investigation into the matter is underway.

This brutal crime has come to light less than two days after a 38-year-old financier was murdered in Byappanahalli police limits earlier this week. The victim, a resident of Horamavu was allegedly murdered after a man he lent money suspected him of hiring contract killers and decided to go after him first.
