Man beaten to death by in-laws in Mumbai's Santacruz

Mumbai: A shocking incident came to light in Mumbai where a man was allegedly killed by his in-laws after an argument. The incident took place in Mumbai's Santacruz area where 33-year-old Shridhar Yelumalai Harijan was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws.

Shridhar was seriously injured in the attack and was declared brought dead by the time he was rushed to a hospital. Police have registered a case of murder against four people and have arrested three out of four accused.

Shridhar was married to Rajeshwari but the couple had been in discord for a long time. They had three children between the age group of 13 and 5 years. Rajeshwari was allegedly upset over the regular disputes.

According to the preliminary investigation, Rajeshwari had her husband’s house and was living with her father. After Diwali, Shridhar Yerumlai Harijan came to Mumbai from his native place on Sunday. On Monday he met Rajeshwari and tried to meet his children as well but Rajeshwari's parents opposed the request.

An argument ensued and escalated quickly. Shridhar was then allegedly beaten up by his in-laws with an iron rod which hit him on the head, resulting in serious injury. Victim Shridhar's father Yerumalai Manikam Harijan lodged a police complaint.

Vakola Police have registered a case under IPC section 302 and 34 and arrested three accused in this case while one is still absconding.
