Lucknow: In an appalling case reported from Gorakhpur district, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from outside her residence. The minor was then raped and murdered allegedly by a 48-year-old man late on Friday night. The police have arrested the accused.
Sikriganj police, Superintendent Sunil Gupta told Hindustan Times, that the accused was identified as Pappu Rai, who is acquainted with the victim's father. Hr lured the minor with chocolates and took her to an isolated spot where he raped her. When the minor raised an alarm, the accused strangled her to death and dumped her body nearby, he added.
Meanwhile, on Friday night around 11, the local police was informed about the missing minor. The police reached the spot in Sant Kabir Nagar after the alert. During the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed the crime to the police and informed where he had dumped the body.
However, the accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, SEction 364, 376 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
In a similar case reported from Uttar Pradesh, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped at gunpoint in Bhabisa village of Shamli district. The incident happened when the survivor had gone out to relieve herself. The girl's father had lodged a complaint against the accused, who took her into his house and raped her at gunpoint.
The survivor was threatened by the accused of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter. The girl was found in an unconscious state at the accused's house, who has been absconding since the incident.
