Uttar Pradesh: Army man rapes daughter for months, sends her lewd messages

Meerut: A 42-year-old army jawan has been accused of raping and torturing his daughter for months in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. The accused, who was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, has now been arrested.
The jawan was arrested when he recently visited Meerut to celebrate Dussehra and Diwali with his family.
According to a report, the victim filed a complaint against her father after he tried to rape her younger sister too.
The victim said she would not have filed a complaint against her father had he not tried to rape her younger sister.
According to police, the girl said her mother was a mute spectator during the whole crime and that she decided to teach her father a lesson.
The police said the accused was produced in a local court and he was sent to police custody on Monday. The jawan has been booked under rape charges, including Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police said it is also investigating the role of the victim's mother as she has levelled serious allegations against her.
The police further that the accused jawan also sent lewd messages to his daughter for over two years.
"The accused used to beat the victim without provocation. The situation for the victim became bad to worse when he was posted in Meerut district," the report quoted local police-in charge as saying.
However, SP Meerut (Rural) Avinash Pandey said that the wife of the accused also claimed that she was being beaten by her husband whenever she objected to the sexual abuse of her daughter.
According to the police, the victim has also shared a video of her father abusing and thrashing her.
The victim in her First Information Report (FIR) also stated that she had fled her home for two months due to continuous harassment and sexual abuse.
The girl said she returned home after her mother persuaded her that she won't suffer harassment and sexual exploitation any further, but that did not stop.
