Jamshedpur selfie deaths: Man electrocuted to death, minor burnt while taking selfies on moving train

A man was burnt to death and another minor was electrocuted while both were trying to take selfie on a moving train's roof on Sunday. One of the victims was an 11-year-old boy.

Jamshedpur: In a shocking case reported from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, a man was burnt to death and another minor was electrocuted while both were trying to take a selfie on a train roof on Sunday.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times (HT), the victims were identified as 20-year-old Mohammad Faisal and 11-year-old Mohammad Naved, both were residents of Maqdampur under Parsudih police station. Both of them were electrocuted while they were traveling on top of an empty goods train, standing near the Salgajhuri cabin. Reportedly, both of them were taking selfies when they allegedly hit with a high-tension wire.

The HT report claimed that Faisal got stuck in the wire and Naved was electrocuted after which he fell from the train's roof. However, Faisal died on the spot but Naved was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe burn injuries all over his body. The train was going to Nimpura yard and it was waiting for a signal when the man and the minor climbed the train's roof to click selfies.

HK Balmuchu, Tatanagar railway station director told HT that it was an unfortunate incident and probe will be done in the case. He also mentioned that people should not put their lives at risk for taking selfies and doing stunts on railway tracks or around the trains.
