UP: Cops trace notorious criminal after he posts Yak ride picture on Facebook

A gangster identified as Hafiz Syed was arrested after photographs of his Shimla trip were posted on Facebook. The police acted promptly and nabbed Syed from Shimla.

Meerut: A man who had around nine cases registered against him was arrested after he posted the photos of his trip to Shimla on Facebook. Identified as Hafiz Syed, the man was seen sitting on a yak in front of a waterfall in Kufri as he enjoyed at a "snow point". 

As soon as the police learned about the photographs of Syed's retreat, they sent a team to Shimla. Syed's associates somehow found out about the police's plan and told him about it. After he was alerted, Syed started changing his locations.

The police then tracked Syed using mobile surveillance and arrested him. According to police records, the accused was responsible for inciting violence in Meerut's Macheraan area. Around 200 houses had been burnt in the fire that followed the violence. 

Akhilesh Narayan Singh, Superintendent of Police (city) said, "He was missing ever since his name cropped up in the violence in Macheraan area on March 6 this year. He is also a co-accused in violence during mob-lynching protests in July." Syed was among the prime accused who had planned the violence in Meerut. According to police records, roadways buses and other vehicles had been vandalised by an angry mob in Meerut. The attacks had left several persons injured. Out of the 30 people who had been involved in encouraging the incident, Syed was among the prime accused. 

Notorious gangster gets cops drunk, escapes from hotel in Meerut 

In March this year, a gangster from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh managed to escape from police custody by getting the cops drunk. Identified as Badan Singh Baddo, the criminal escaped from a hotel room while he got the police personnel inebriated in the name of a 'booze party'. The gangster had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.

The 50-year-old criminal was with a team of six police officials of Fatehgarh civil police. The cops were escorting Baddo to Fatehgarh Central Jail when he took them to a hotel room. Baddo's friends were also in the room. The cops and Baddo's friends got drunk in the room and eventually, he escaped with them. 

Baddo had been serving a life sentence for the murder of a lawyer. He had been convicted for the murder that took place in 1996 and was being transferred to Fatehgarh Central Jail. The police said that the accused had around 10 cases of murder and dacoity registered against him.
