Uttar Pradesh: In a city-wide drive, 305 police personnel fined for violating traffic norms in Lucknow

In a city-wide drive, 305 civil police and traffic police personnel have been fined for violating traffic norms while riding two-wheelers in Lucknow on Friday.

Lucknow: As many as 305 civil police and traffic police personnel have been fined for violating traffic norms while riding two-wheelers in Lucknow on Friday. 

Reportedly, the police officials have sent a report for cancellation of vehicle registration to regional transport officer they found out that at least 574 vehicle riders were fined four or more times in 2019. 

According to a report in the Hindustan Times (HT), the district police spokesperson Ashish Tewari said that the traffic drive was carried out especially at the reserve police lines in Mahanagar, Sadar in which 305 police personnel have been fined for violating traffic norms. He added, that at least 150 police personnel were fined at the reserve police lines and almost 155 were fined at the traffic police lines. 

Along with scores of police officers, around 3,422 commuters were also fined for violating traffic rules during a day-long drive which was carried out on Friday. Reportedly, Tewari further mentioned that the police had taken a stand against repeated and frequent violators, following which they recommended cancellation of the registration of 574 vehicles. 

The HT report further mentioned that the vehicles which were kept in registration cancellation list had been ticketed for violations of norms for four or more times. Reportedly, the cops were provided e-thermal printers for immediate receipt printing of challans.
