BIZARRE! Inmate chops off his penis in Kerala jail; saved by doctors in the nick of time

An inmate at Peermade jail in Kerala’s Idduki district chopped off his penis and was rushed to the doctors just in the nick of time. He had been in jail for four months for the alleged rape of his daughter.

Chennai: A 42-year-old inmate who was serving jail time after being accused of raping his daughter, cut off his penis with the shaving blade provided by jail authorities. The bizarre incident occurred at the Peermade sub-jail in Kerala’s Idduki district and has left the entire jail staff bewildered. 

The inmate was a resident of Vandiperiyar and had also been granted bail in the case but no one from his family had come forward to bail him out. According to a report in The Times of India, He had been in the jail since four months and had claimed that he was not guilty throughout the term of his sentencing.

Upon finding out about the shocking step taken by the inmate, they immediately rushed him to a hospital and then transferred him to a bigger facility where doctors acted swiftly to save his life. The accused man had lost a lot of blood but still, he could be saved.

Moreover, doctors managed to stitch back his penis in time and he is said to be in stable condition now. As per the rules of the Kerala jail where the man was lodged, inmates are provided with a shaving blade and razor every week on Tuesdays.

Cases of inmates harming themselves are common across the world and it is due to this reason that the jail authorities keep a strict vigil in what is handed over to them in terms of objects that can be potentially used to harm themselves or other inmates.
