Australian opener D’Arcy Short would be hoping to make the most of the Indian tour as the 28-year-old is looking to book a berth in the Australian side for the World Cup 2019. Short, who is coming after a brilliant Big Bash League 2019, is also working on his bowling to impress the selectors and provide an X-factor the Aussie team in the spin-friendly conditions in India.

Short is working closely with former Indian spinner Sridharan Sriram and has said he is looking to give few overs in the limited-over circuit and is confident that it will benefit his selection case. Short is a chinaman bowler and can become a huge asset for the Aussies if he can click with the ball.

“I did a lot of work with him (Sriram) in the A tour in August and September. That was good then and I've done a bit of work with him yesterday and today, just refining things and getting a little bit better," he was quoted as saying by www.cricket.com.au.

"If I can give two or three overs or even four or five in one-day cricket then it's always going to help my selection in the end and hopefully it goes in my favour," added Short, who is in the 15-man Aussie squad as a cover for Shaun Marsh.

Short was the highest scorer in the recently concluded Big Bash League 2018-19 after scoring as many as 637 runs in 15 matches at a sensational average of 53.08. Short scored his runs at a scintillating strike-rate of 140.61.

Meanwhile, India are gearing up to host Australia for two T20Is and five ODIs as the final preparatory stop ahead of the World Cup 2019. The first T20I between both the sides will take place on Sunday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
