Kolkata student's post about a postgraduate youth delivering Zomato order is a heart-breaking reality check

Kolkata: A Kolkata-based youth's plight in the state's job market has captured the internet’s attention, especially due to his educational qualification. According to a Facebook post, Meraj, a resident of Kolkata, delivers food for Zomato despite having a postgraduate degree in Commerce. The details of Meraj’s educational qualification were mentioned in his bio on the food app. It was discovered by a Zomato user named Shouvik Dutta who had recently ordered food using the Zomato app.

Dutta, an undergraduate student, took a screenshot of Meraj’s bio and posted it on Facebook with the caption, “Probably the only time I regret ordering food from Zomato. It was one of those usual checkouts ordering food when I was taken aback after I was updated about the details of my delivery agent.”

Dutta added that when Meraj arrived at his doorstep, he had a wide smile on his face and had requested him to rate the delivery. After a quick chat, Dutta came to know that he is an M.Com graduate from Kolkata University with a  PGDM in Finance or Investment Banking.

Dutta ended his post with a very pertinent message.

“This country needs to change. This state needs to change. Jobs need to be created, we are living through difficult times. This country needs to change.

The post has now gone viral with over 2,900 shares and 3,000 reactions. The screenshot has also been shared on Twitter.
