Assam gas well fire: Tinsukia residents step up protest, victims' families demand compensation

Residents of Tinsukia held protests outside the office of Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner demanding compensation for the victims' families. The gas well fire has affected 1,600 families. Two firefighters of public sector major OIL were found dead in a wetland abutting the site of a major blaze at its Baghjan well, which has been "uncontrollably" spewing gas for the last few weeks in Assam's Tinsukia district. Assam minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that the damage will be compensated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also assured Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of all possible assistance to the victims and to resolve the situation. Watch the video for more details!
