FRANKFORT — Firefighters are investigating what may have caused a blaze Wednesday on the second floor of a Frankfort home.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 4:15 p.m. to 2260 Broad St. Frankfort Center Assistant Fire Chief Fred DiStefano said fire was visible on the second floor when crews arrived.

DiStefano said firefighters were challenged by the heat in dealing with the flames. Along with Frankfort Center, the Frankfort, Frankfort Hill and Schuyler fire departments were called in for mutual aid.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour and a half, he said. The cause is under investigation.

DiStefano said the second floor of the building was burned out while the first floor had some water damage. No injuries were reported.

DiStefano said nobody was inside the residence at the time of the fire. He said he was unsure of how many people reside at the home, though any residents are unable to stay there at this time due to the damage.
