On Saturday, February 9th, The Capital City Area Black Caucus held a community and leadership engagement discussion at the Capital Area YMCA in Trenton. John Harmon, CEO and President of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey presented and moderated a panel discussion among several organizations, elected officials, policy leaders and experts including Trenton City Council President Kathy McBride, Mercer County Freeholder Sam Frisby, Greater Trenton VP of Marketing and Communications Bryan Evans, President of NJ Council of Community Colleges Dr. Aaron Fichtner, CEO of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership Jill Johnson, Mercer County Director of Transportation Aaron Watson, and Chief of Staff for the City of Trenton Yoshi Manale.

As part of Black History Month, CCABC presented Community Recognition awards to outstanding Trenton citizens including Andrew Bobbitt, Poppy Sanderson, Dale Hodges, Tonya Grant, Mike Bass, Divine 9 Sororities and Fraternities, Concerned Black Pastors and Ministers of The Greater Trenton Area, The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Trenton & Surrounding Area, The Covenant Partners of Trenton, New Jersey, The African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ, and the Trenton NAACP.

This event, which is part of “TRENTON FUTURE SERIES” and sponsored by the Capital City Area Black Caucus, is a series of monthly discussions on the future of the city and on critical issues and hot topics impacting African American citizens in the Capital City area.
