TRENTON – A woman who was clinging to life after being shot in the back of the head Sunday night has died, marking the capital city’s 22nd homicide of the year.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday that Jolisa Marshall, 28, of Hamilton, succumbed to her injuries after being wounded in a double shooting around 10:35 p.m. Sunday on the first block of Delawareview Avenue.

The second victim, a man, was treated for a non-life-threatening shot to the buttocks, authorities said.

Marshall was a mother to a 4-year-old daughter, according to a relative who posted about her cousin’s death on Facebook.

“My [cousin] was a great mom, sister, [cousin], friend & daughter,” Velissa Austell wrote. “She was the life of the party. She always had a big smile on her face enjoyed making [people] laugh as well and never held a grudge. She lived for her daughter Jada, and she didn’t deserve this. My heart is very heavy, and I’m in disbelief that something like this could happen to someone like my cuz Jolisa. I loved her like a sister. This ain’t fair. We took loss after loss y I’m so hurt. I love u Jolean. Dance with our loved ones who pasted b4 u.”

There was no word on a motive for the killing, and no arrests have been made as the Mercer County Homicide Task Force continues to investigate.
