The police have booked unknown persons for cheating in the railway recruitment examination held for the posts of junior engineer (JE) here recently.

In a complaint to the police, Dinesh Bisht, Chief Office Superintendent, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Chandigarh, stated that the board had received an email from a candidate alleging cheating in the computer-based railway recruitment exam held at Rainbow Web World, Industrial Area, Phase II, Chandigarh, on May 25. In the email, the candidate had alleged that the invigilator had helped candidates by supplying answers.

Bisht said on receiving the email on May 26, the matter was reported to the Deputy Secretary, Railway Recruitment Board, Chandigarh, immediately and he asked the staff to consult the exam conducting agency to provide the CCTV footage. While watching the footage, they found some suspicious movement by invigilators and it seemed that surely a malpractice was going on at the centre, he said.

On his complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC against unknown persons at the Sector 31 police station and started investigations.
