Faridabad teenager succumbs to injuries after 3 days of assault

FARIDABAD: A 16-year-old student of a private school here, who had got injured in an assault by fellow students a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital today.

A 16-year-old student of a private school here, who had got injured in an assault by fellow students a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital today.

The police have launched a hunt to nab the accused after registration of a murder case.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, the victim identified as Saurabh Sharma, a student of plus one at a school in Sector 16-A here, had been beaten up by a group of six students on Thursday when he and a friend were walking towards the school.

Saurabh was assaulted with rods and punched by the accused when he intervened to save his friend Dixit Mavi who was with him at that time. It is reported that Mavi was targeted by his school mates who had developed an enmity over some issue last month.

But Saurabh, who intervened to save Mavi, was hit on his head and other parts of the body by the accused, resulting in grievous injuries. He was admitted to a private hospital in Sector 16.

The body was handed over to his kin after the post-mortem examination. “We have registered a case of murder and have launched a hunt to arrest the accused named in the FIR,” said a police official.
