Faridabad, August 27

The first international-level convention centre of the state will come up here. The foundation stone of the project, costing around Rs 400 crore, will be laid formally by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday.

Announcing this, Sonal Goel, Administrator, HSVP, Faridabad, said the centre will be the largest in the NCR and the Northern India. It will be primarily used to hold national and international level conferences, conventions related to government officials, corporate and industry, performing arts, film festivals and events of various levels held at facilities like Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

Revealing that the centre would be far larger and spacious than the Vigyan Bhawan, she said three plenary halls here will be able to accommodate an audience of 4,000 persons at a time. While the main hall will have a sitting capacity to accommodate 2,500 persons, two other halls will accommodate another 1,500. As it will be able to facilitate holding of roundtable conferences, corporate exhibitions, Industrial exhibitions and government exhibitions, national and international-level meetings, art and cultural events could also be held with ease as it will provide the state-of-art infrastructure.

The convention centre will come up on an 8.2-acre plot in Sector 78 of Greater Faridabad area having a wide road access from the national highway and in close proximity of a metro rail station. The other facilities that will be provided include a large food court to serve up to 5000 visitors at a time. A double-level basement parking will be made available for 1,200 to 2,400 vehicles.

Based on the green concept, the multi-storied building will not only use renewable solar energy but will also focus on the use low energy consuming air-conditioning system and lights to minimize emission of green house gases. It will have a zero-discharge facility as the rainwater will be harvested and wastewater from toilets be treated and recycled for use in horticulture, housekeeping and air-conditioning.

  • 4,000 persons the centre will accommodate at a time
  • 2,500 person sitting capacity alone will be of the main hall
  • 8.2 acre plot of Sector 78, Greater Faridabad, the facility will come up on
  • 5,000visitors a large food court will serve at any given time
  • 2,400 vehicles a double-level basement parking will handle
  • 0 discharge from the centre as rainwater will be harvested, wastewater treated
