Chandigarh, September 11
The Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday passed a resolution condemning the unruly behavior and use of un-parliamentary language by Leader of the Opposition Abhay Chautala and Congress MLAKaran Dalal.
The Congress member trooped into the well of the House and demanded voting on the resolution which was rejected by Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar. Earlier, the Congress members wanted to know the rule under which Dalal was suspended for a year, following which the Speaker adjourned the House twice.
As Gujjar said the decision to suspend Dalal was taken by the House and rejected their demand for voting on the resolution condemning the behaviour of Dalal and Abhay, the Congress members walked out of the House.
Earlier, Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu hurriedly moved a resolution against Abhay and Dalal. The resolution was moved apparently as a damage-control exercise by the BJP government as it was felt by certain members that punishment meted out to Dalal was “too severe”, while Abhay was “spared”. — TNS
