Chandigarh, November 12
Commuters travelling in Haryana Roadways (HR) buses will have to shell out more as the authorities have hiked fare by a flat Rs 5 per passenger.
Sources said the decision had been taken in the wake of a similar decision taken by the Punjab Roadways authorities to hike fare by seven paise per passenger per kilometer. The decision to hike fare by a flat Rs 5 per passenger had been taken to bring the fare charged by the HR and the Punjab Roadways at par, the source added.
Now, the Chandigarh-Ambala fare would be Rs 65 as against the current Rs 60 per trip. Similarly, the revised fares would be Chandigarh-Delhi (Rs 250), Chandigarh-Saharanpur (Rs 150), Chandigarh-Haridwar (Rs 240) and Chandigarh-Yamunanagar (Rs 115).
