40 students to receive philately scholarship under SPARSH

LUDHIANA: The Ministry of Communication, Department of Posts, will grant an annual Scholarship of Rs 6000 to students of Class VI to IX under the Deen Dayal Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby (SPARSH) Yojana.

The Ministry of Communication, Department of Posts, will grant an annual Scholarship of Rs 6000 to students of Class VI to IX under the Deen Dayal Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby (SPARSH) Yojana. This scheme was launched in 2017 to encourage stamp collection among students.

The information was conveyed by Amanpreet Singh, senior superintendent of post office (SSPO), Ludhiana division. While sharing this information, the SSPO informed that 10 students will be selected from each class. Maximum of 40 scholarships representing 10 students each from Class VI, VII, VIII and IX will be selected in the Punjab Postal Circle.

To avail this scholarship, a student must be a from a recognised school and the concerned school should have a Philately Club. The aspirant for the scholarship should be a member of the club.

In case the school philately club hasn’t been established, a student who has his/her own Philately Deposit Account (PDA) at the Ludhiana HPO will also be considered for the scholarship.

The winners will be awarded scholarship on the basis of the philately quiz and project. The aim of introducing the scheme was to inculcate interest of the young minds towards stamp collection and encourage philately as a hobby. The scheme is being implemented with the objective of mental development of students.
