With an aim to ensure that more and more children reach school, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has started “Each One, Bring One” drive across the state. Enrolment of students under the said drive would commence from December 18.

The department has asked teachers to coordinate with anganwadi workers of their respective areas. Each teacher has been assigned to bring one student to school.

Last year, the department came up with “Khed Mahals” for pre-primary students. The main aim behind starting the programme was to increase enrolment and to bring more and more students under the umbrella of the Education Department.

Kusum Lata, Principal, Government High School, Sarabha Nagar, said bringing students to schools alone would not solve the purpose. “Decorating and making surroundings of the schools appealing is also important. The real target before teachers is to create interest of students in studies.”

A teacher from Samrala said, “It is a good initiative and it will definitely help in increasing enrolment of kids in government schools.”
