Members of the Punjab bodybuilding contingent received a rousing welcome here today.

These athletes competed in the Senior Mr India contest organised by the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF) from November 23 to 25 held at at Bodh Gaya.

A member of the squad, Pardeep Kumar Verma of Ludhiana was adjudged Mr India-2018. Besides, athletes from the state bagged four gold medals in this event.

Around 160 participants from across the country vied for top honours in this competition.

A large number of sports lovers, family members of athletes and office-bearers of the IBBFF were present at the local railway station to receive the athletes who gave a stupendous performance.

Pardeep Kumar won the gold medal in the 55-60-kg weight category and was also declared Mr India while Jatinder Kumar Arora of Ludhiana bagged gold medal in the 75-80-kg weight group and stitched up best physique award (up to 170 cm) whereas Harjot Rai from Garhshankar clinched gold medal in the above 85-kg section.

Dr Deepak Prashar and Arvinder Singh Bholla, general secretary and finance secretary, IBBFF, and Ravi Kumar, executive director of the federation, among others were also present on the occasion to welcome athletes.
