UCPMA to protest hike in power rates

LUDHIANA: The UCPMA managing committee called an urgent meeting of the senior members of the association regarding hike in electricity charges.

Ludhiana, June 24

The UCPMA managing committee called an urgent meeting of the senior members of the association regarding hike in electricity charges.

The UCPMA members said during the last Assembly elections, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh promised industrialists that electricity at Rs5 per unit would be provided, but the electricity rates were increasing day by day after elections. The main purpose of today’s meeting was agitation against the PSPCL. Members of other associations also took part in the meeting and condemned the PSPCL for hiking power rates. The members have decided to sit on dharna outside the office of the Chief Engineer on June 26 with black flags and badges to protest against the move. The UCPMA has requested other associations to take part in the protest. — TNS
