An IAS officer from Meghalaya has been inspiring people to lead a cleaner and a greener life.
In order to buy organic vegetables from local vendors, Ram Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, walks 10 km every week.
Ram has been trying to inspire people to walk towards fitness. He wants to reduce vehicular pollution and avoid plastics.
Ram posted a picture on Saturday that went viral. The picture shows the officer buying vegetables from a local vendor, near Tura, with a traditional bamboo basket slung over his shoulder.
He captioned the image: “21kgs of weekend organic Vegetables shopping, No plastic, no vehicular pollution, no traffic jam, Fit India, Fit Meghalaya, Eat Organic, Clean & Green Tura , POSHAN , 10km morning walk…"
The post received over 2,000 'likes' and several comments. People praised him for his dedication towards going green.
Meanwhile, another Facebook user shared Ram’s pictures applauding his initiative.
"This is the new face of Indian Bureaucracy. I am inspired," wrote Robert G Lyngdoh on Facebook, sharing two pictures of Ram.
