The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a Jammu-based couple from Ludhiana and seized 10 kg heroin from them.

The accused, Mohammad Arbi, 48, and wife Jamila Begum, 36, of Bathindi Colony in Jammu, were smuggling the drugs in walnut boxes. They were travelling in a Swift car using a police sticker.

STF chief Mohammad Mustafa told reporters that the couple had confessed to supplying two consignments earlier in Amritsar.

The STF has identified a Kashmir-based smuggler and another based in Pakistan who ran the operation. The accused got the drugs via Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The STF has announced the arrest of two people from Bhawanigarh with recovery of 45,500 prescription drugs.
