EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The celebration that began in Lexington is now back in Evansville.

Dozens gathered on the campus of University of Evansville well after midnight awaiting the team’s return early Wednesday. When the bus pulled up, victory chants broke out as the crowd welcomed home their guys.

What a bus ride it must have been. Players tell Sports Director Randall Parmley the win hasn’t quite become reality yet.

“It’s just big, it’s big for the community. It’s big for Evansville. This is history right here, and we’re going to do something special,” said UE Senior KJ Riley.

“And you’re a part of history,” stated WEHT Sports Director Randall Parmley.

“Yes.” replied Riley

“And how’s that make you feel?”

“It hasn’t sinked in yet. I’m still dreaming,” said Riley with a smile.

“We really believe in what we’re doing. We think we’re doing it the right way. We’ve got a great group of kids, man, uh, people are here to support us so we’re on our way man, this is just the beginning,” said Coach Walter McCarty.

The Purple Aces are inviting fans to celebrate last night’s monumental win. A pep rally will be held Wednesday at noon at Ridgeway Center on the campus of UE.
