During his annual State of the Schools address, EVSC Superintendent Dr. David Smith addressed the problem of hiring and keeping teachers employed in Indiana schools.
Dr. Smith says due to the current funding climate in the state, he understands why teachers are holding these walk-in demonstrations.
“Frankly, they’re not disrupting the student educational process or environment, but they also want to make an impression upon our state leaders, ‘Hey, just fund us to where we can keep pace with inflation.’ In the EVSC over the last decade we have lost funding to the tune of $88 million to where we should be just based on keeping pace with inflation.””
On Wednesday, Warrick County Schools and the Warrick County Teacher’s Association will be participating in a “Red for Ed” Walk-In.
