TRURO, N.S. — A talented trio is getting together to provide people with a musical treat.
Brenna Conrad, Andrew Morrisey and Rachel O’Brien will be performing in both Truro and New Glasgow.
“We really enjoyed doing this show last year and I’m excited to see what Andrew will include this year,” said Conrad. “I was pulling out some old pieces I haven’t done in a while and I’m looking forward to performing them again.”
One of the pieces she’s chosen is ‘Requiem for a Soldier.’
Morrisey will be giving a cabaret style performance and is included something from his recent show ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch.’
“It’ll be a mix of things I pulled out of the archives and new things,” he said. “I really felt people were with us during last year’s show. It all connected.”
Conrad and Morrisey were introduced by Rachel O’Brien, who will be accompanying them on piano.
“I’ve been working with Rachel about eight years and it’s like I just look at her and she knows what I want,” said Morrisey.
“She has an innate ability to follow a singer and that allow us to have freedom,” added Conrad.
Brenna Conrad is a professionally-trained soprano with experience in vocal performance, music education and music ministry. She has been the female soloist for the Nova Scotia Tattoo for more than 16 years and has performed in several tattoos overseas. She is the conductor for Cantabile Impact!, a youth choir, is the music director at First Baptist Church, and runs a private vocal studio.
Andrew Morrisey is an actor and singer who has starred in shows throughout North America. This summer he has been starring in the Canadian tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He is also a singing and acting teacher. He lives in New York but returns to Truro to run drama camps in the summer.
Rachel O’Brien is a music director, pianist, and educator. This summer, she has been teaching musical theatre to all ages at Neptune Theatre School's summer camp program.
The trio will perform in Truro at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Friday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation at the door.
The New Glasgow show will be at Shaun, 135 Provost St. at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. This is an event for those aged 19 and older. For tickets, call 902-921-0400.
