Hundreds of people braved freezing rain to watch the annual Truro tree lighting and fireworks display on Civic Square Friday.

The crowds enjoyed Christmas music and hot chocolate before the tree was lit to an impressive fireworks display above the Colchester-East Hants Library.

The tree lighting marks the start of a Christmas-themed weekend, including a special festive farmers market selling seasonal goodies, followed by the Santa Claus PArade on Saturday evening.
