Louisiana Grand Champion Eric Courville Honed Craft With Navy Service

“I am not amazing.”
That’s what Eric Courville says, but his competitors in the Louisiana Truck Driving Championships might dispute that. After watching Courville carve up the course to win the 3-Axle competition and take Grand Champion honors March 30, he earned a trip to the National Truck Driving Championships for the 11th time.
A humble, Southern gentleman, Courville, of Breaux Bridge, La., served in the Navy from 1987 to 2009, and now loves driving for FedEx and competing in truck driving championships.

2019 Preview
When: March 29-30, 2019
Where: Baton Rouge, La.
Field: There are 105 truckers coming out for the competition covering all nine categories.
Preview: 2018 Grand Champion Eric Courville of FedEx Freight is slotted to compete again this year. He will come back to defend his title in the 3-Axle division in hopes of punching his ticket to NTDC in Pittsburgh Aug. 14-17.

FedEx’s Courville Wins Top Honors in Louisiana Truck Championships
Eric Courville, a FedEx Freight driver for more than two decades, took home the grand champion honors at the Louisiana State Truck Driving Championships on March 23-24.
Courville won the 3-axle class and demonstrated overall excellence at the state event, which marked the start of qualifiers for the National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Courville has participated at nationals 11 times, where elite drivers from every state measure their safety skills.
