Grand slam home runs are rare for the Oklahoma Union baseball program.
At least, they were until senior center fielder Logan Key hit two in one day.
Key hit a bases-clearing, four-run shot in a 14-11, extra-inning loss to Spiro in the Preston Tournament last Thursday. He followed with another in the next game, a 9-7 extra-inning win over Sperry.
Senior catcher Jace Bottoms hit a grand slam earlier this season for the Cougars, who play a best-of-three 2A district series at Caney Valley this week.
But before Bottoms' slam, it had been 10 years since the Cougars hit another one, coach Lee Ott said.
Key is a versatile athlete. He was conference MVP in basketball and a member of the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association’s Region 3 team.
