The man suspected of shooting his ex-girlfriend and her teenage daughter died at UAB Hospital Sunday night.

Brad Gray, 36, was taken off of life support Sunday, said 4th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Police believe Gray shot and killed Paige Mitchell, 37, and Kaci Mitchell, 14, at the Mitchell's home late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Gray, 36, turned the gun on himself when police arrived at his house.

Members of Kaci Mitchell's church youth group met Sunday night to release release balloons in honor of her and her mother.

Services for the mother and daughter were held at Magnolia Funeral Home South at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Members of the Moundville Baptist Church's youth group, where the Mitchells were members, held a service at 6 p.m.

The group met at the gravesite of Ben Mitchell, Kaci's father and Paige's husband who was killed in a motorcycle crash in 2009. Ben and Paige had a younger daughter, who survives the rest of her immediate family. She and a foster daughter, who was living with the Mitchell family, called 911 early Thursday after they awoke and discovered what had happened.

The girls directed police to Gray's home, about a mile away from the house on Market Street. Police knocked, and entered the house after hearing gunshots.

Mitchell had filed past police reports accusing Gray of domestic violence. A surveillance video from the Petro gas station near their homes showed Gray purchasing a 12-pack of Bud Light beer just after 5 a.m. the morning the victims were found dead.

Family members of the Mitchells suggested that people contribute donations to Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, Ben Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund or their charity of choice.
