Tuscaloosa man killed in fatal crash near Moundville

A Tuscaloosa man was killed in a one-vehicle crash near Moundville Friday afternoon.

Brandon Justin Pate, 28, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer that struck several trees on the side of Alabama Highway 60 around 1:05 p.m., according to Alabama State Troopers.

Troopers believe speed played a part in the crash, which remains under investigation. Pate was pronounced dead at the scene, about six miles south of Moundville.
