Five things to do this weekend in Tuscaloosa

No. 1: Moundville Archaeological Park will host an exhibition of hoop dancing during its Saturday in the Park series. Lyndon Alec is a member of the Alabama-Coushatta tribe and has demonstrated hoop dancing at events all over the world, including the annual Native American Festival at Moundville. He'll demonstrate hoop dancing and talk about the traditions and meaning behind it. The event will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., free with admission to the park, general $8, seniors $7, students and children $6, under five free. The park is at 634 Mound State Parkway. No. 2: Live at the Plaza, the free downtown concert series, continues with Jake Austell (of the J’s ) Trio and then 4G. Live at the Plaza will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Government Plaza on Sixth Street. The city’s entertainment district will be in effect, meaning up to two drinks per patron can be purchased from bars and restaurants within the district, and taken outside, within the district, which includes the Plaza. No. 3: The  Green Scenes, the free indoor movie series hosted by the city of Tuscaloosa, continues Friday with “Toy Story 3.”  The movie will be shown at 1 p.m. at the Richard A. Curry Jr. complex, 3440 Kauloosa Ave. Guests will receive a free bag of popcorn and refreshments provided by the local Coca-Cola bottling plant. Those attending can bring outside food, but additional meals will not be provided. No. 4: The second annual Crepe Myrtle Festival will be held from  5-9 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday at 302 First Street South in Reform. The streets of downtown Reform will be filled with vendors, arts, crafts and food. There will be a parade of flags on Saturday and live music both days, including the Tekknology. No. 5: This event is definitely gross, but the kids should love it. The Children's Hands-On Museum, 2213 University Blvd., will host "Grossology" from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Kids can find out what's inside of a disposable diaper, play with snot bubbles and determine whether Ooblek is  a solid or liquid? Admission is free for kids younger than 1; $6 for 1- to 2-year-olds; $9 for 3- to 59-year-olds; and $7 for those 60 years old and older.
