Blakely leads Sumter Central win with 27 points

YORK – Ray Blakely scored 27 points for Sumter Central in a 76-62 victory over Demopolis on Friday in boys high school basketball action

Also for Sumter Central, Kedrick Turnipseed had 19 points and nine rebounds.

Kejuan Bracie was high scorer for Demopolis with 14 points.

Sumter Central (7-1) hosts Greene County on Saturday.

Holy Spirit 80,

Isabella 27

Jaylon Stevenson scored 19, Evan Jones 14, Mason Mulanix 13 and John Robert Austin 10 for Holy Spirit in the AHSAA Class 1A, Area 7 matchup.

Cornelius Stacy led Isabella and the game with 20 points.

Holy Spirit (8-2, 2-0) hosts Gordo on Tuesday.

Tuscaloosa Academy 60,

Patrician Academy 45

Phil McDuff scored 27 points, 15 of those points in the third quarter, and Hadrian McNeil 18 for the Knights.

Pickens Academy was led by Seth Peeks with 19 points.

Tuscaloosa Christian will play No. 1-ranked Evangel at home Saturday at 1 p.m.

Winfield 55,

Haleyville 41

HALEYVILLE – Winfield’s Brady Franks led the game with 22 points and three blocks. Nolen Miles scored 15 and Luke Jungels nine.

Ramsay 71,

ACA 60

BIRMINGHAM – American Christian Academy’s leading scorers were Luke Skinner with 18 points, Braden Lovely with 14, Dan Parker with 12 and Jack Snyder with nine. ACA (7-3) hosts Keith on Monday.

Marengo Academy 70,

North River Christian 58

John Parker Brock led Marengo Academy with 22 points. Hayden Campbell scored 19 and Tate Jordan 14.

Scoring a career-high 39 points was the Chargers’ Allyn Robinson. And, also for North River Christian Academy, Jordon Coleman scored 10 points.

North River Christian Academy (1-6, 0-1) takes a break now until after the Christmas holidays.

Northside 55,

West Blocton 44

SAMANTHA – Andy Maluda led Northside in the win with 13 points. Harrison Boyd added 11 points.

Trent Underwood had 20 points to lead West Blocton and Kadarious Taylor had 15 points.

Northside (2-9, 1-2) plays at Berry on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Sipsey Valley 56,

Hale County 52

MOUNDVILLE – Taylor Smith scored 28 points, Yasmine Turner 13 and Shamir Brown 10 points for undefeated Sipsey Valley.

Emil Owens led Hale County and the game with 29 points, and she pulled down 11 rebounds. Georgianna Hall had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Katlyn Lawson scored 12 points.

Sipsey Valley (13-0) plays at West Blocton on Monday. Hale County (5-4) plays at Aliceville on Tuesday.

Berry 52,

Sumiton Christian 31

SUMITON – Brooke Hill scored 21 points, making five 3-point baskets, for Berry. Tyner Beth Bowling was next with 17 points, and Zoe Mauldin scored 10 points. Bailey Thomas led Berry with 14 rebounds and six assists.

Berry (6-4) hosts Northside on Monday.

Northside 55,

West Blocton 22

SAMANTHA – In the AHSAA Class 4A, Area 7 game, Taylor Stroud led all scorers and Northside with 18 points. Santanna Marquis scored eight points and made eight steals. Both Bo Clark and Paige Jones made 10 rebounds.

For West Blocton, Makenzie Parks scored 10 points and Ellie McAfee five.

Northside (5-5, 2-1) plays at Berry on Monday.

Tuscaloosa Academy 41,

Pickens Academy 11

Kelsey Curry led Tuscaloosa Academy with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Chloe Johnson scored nine points. Tuscaloosa Academy will host Evangel Christian Academy at noon on Saturday.

Winfield 59,

Haleyville 42

HALEYVILLE – Winfield held host Haleyville to 13 first-half points and led 35-13 at the break. Andrea Harbin ended the game with 20 points and six steals. C’era Beck had 10 points. Abbie Junkin had a team-leading nine rebounds.

Hillcrest 60,

Holt 13

HOLT – Leading the Hillcrest win were A’Nya Banks with 15 points and Jada Richards with 12. Hillcrest (8-4) will host Central on Tuesday.
