Choice leads the way in Hillcrest win

Jaida Choice led the Hillcrest over Northridge 12-1 on Thursday in high school softball action, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, one double and seven RBIs.

Shelby Hobson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Brianna Ashcraft added an RBI. Mattie Morrow got thw in, throwing six innings while allowing one earned run on four hits, one earned run and struck out four batters. Hillcrest improves to 10-8 and will host Brookwood High School on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Hale County 6

Northside 3

MOUNDVILLE — Charlie Lester pitched seven innings and gave up two earned runs to lead Hale County. Emily LaFoy drove in three runs. Kori Young and Madelynn Langham both went 2-for-4. Hale County (7-8) plays at Holt on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

ACA 11

West Blocton 1

Halle Payne blasted a three-run home run, Hanna Hargrove added a double and a single and Hannah Miles had a double. Lauren Carroll was the winning pitcher for ACA.

ACA (14-4) travels to Oxford on Friday to face Gadsden City and Woodland.

Holy Spirit 20,

Hubbertville 1 (5 innings)

HUBBERTVILLE – Jeremy Boler went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Sam Contorno had a triple, a home run with four RBIs.

Also for Holy Spirit, Braden Cameron had two hits, including a double, with three RBIs and John Robert Austin had two hits with three RBIs.

Contorno (2-1) pitched four innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits with eight strikeouts.

Holy Spirit (7-2, 5-0 Class 1A, Area 8) hosts Pickens County on Tuesday. Hubbertville (1-7) is at Hackleburg on Friday.

Girls Soccer

Greene leads the way for ACA

Mady Greene scored two goals and gave out two assists to lead the way in a 4-2 American Christian Academy win over Holy Spirit.

Lexi Kearley and Rebecca Vercher both scored one goal apiece. Claire Dickinson added an assist. ACA (3-0-2) travels to Livingston to face Holt on Thursday in the West Alabama Invitational.

Northridge wins on the road

IRVINGTON — Joey Walker and Andrew Richardson both scored a goal to give Northridge the 2-0 win over Alma Bryant. Ivan Obias gave and assist and Wesley Marcus earned a penalty kick to give Richardson the penalty kick goal.

Northridge sweeps Homewood

The Northridge girls beat Homewood 9-0 while the boys won 8-1. The Northridge teams are both 5-2.

On Wednesday, John Colby Stapp pitched five innings, allowed two hits with six strikeouts for the win.

Landen Borden went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Tyler Tubbs, Eli Benton and Matthew Estes each had two hits.

On Wednesday, Davis Petry was the winning pitcher.
