A man jumped onto a St. Paul highway on Friday afternoon and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

St. Paul officers responded at 1:30 p.m. to a report of a person jumping from the Marion Street bridge over Interstate 94.

Police found a 56-year-old man on the freeway’s westbound lanes, said Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul police spokesman.

Traffic was limited in the area while emergency personnel tended to the man. Paramedics took him to Regions Hospital.
