Sainted, Tainted, Sainted, Tainted

Sainted to the Minnesota Nice folks outside P. J. Murphy’s Bakery who pushed us off of a snow shelf in the street too deep to drive through.

Tainted to the St. Paul mayor: Use some of that “no fireworks” money for better plowing. This is called “winter” and you need to plow it more often!

Sainted to police and fire, postal and other delivery people as well as newspaper carriers who take all this in stride in the spirit of Minnesota.

And finally a Tainted to the Minnesota Not So Nice drivers who insist on not cleaning off their mobile igloos before risking the rest of us daily!

I would like to saint four people who came to my rescue on Wednesday morning about 8:20 a.m.

Before our neighborhood side streets were plowed I attempted to navigate one two blocks from my home and got very stuck in the snow.

One young gentleman approached and began to help. Then two students waiting for a bus came over, and then another gentleman joined in the fun.

These snow angels got me going in a couple of minutes. I did not want to stop and get stuck again but Thank you, Thank you! May your week be blessed.

We would like to thank three wonderful people who helped free our car from a snow bank last week on Summit Avenue.

Our Tesla was totally hung up, the four-wheel drive wouldn’t free it,  and these three people, one woman and two men, worked hard to get us free, and would accept only our sincerest thanks. They are saints!

Tainted

The new food in the Rosedale Mall has earned a tainted for deciding that they will not accept cash when you want to buy one of their food products. They will accept only debit or credit cards.

They should be further tainted for their work-around for those of us who do not like to use plastic. You can go to the gift counter and pay cash for a gift card that then can be used to buy food. They should be triple tainted for not serving a 12-year-old who had cash to buy a donut and was sent away.

I would like to saint two complete strangers who came to my rescue after I fell on a very icy patch which I did not see.

My book, my cup and I went sprawling. I knew I would have trouble getting up, and kept warning others to stay off the sidewalk and just walk in the snow.

Nicole was in her car and she stopped and got out to help. After some maneuvering, and two tries, she got me up on my feet, and then Dave, also driving by, stopped to help and both guided me to the door.

They were “God sends.” Thank you so much.

Schools closed, mail canceled, but our Pioneer Press was delivered on time everyday by Tim Skone our faithful  paper person, to our front door. Thank you for such excellent service.

We would like to Saint our (retiring) PP carrier, Don Huber. We have known Don for 30 years, and he has been our carrier for the past 25. Along with the rest of his family helping out, Don has always provided EXCELLENT service, rain, snow or shine. Some seasons have been tough. He put kids through college, treats the grandchildren wonderfully and now he is gets to enjoy his retirement. Many years ago, we obtained a paper box from the PP and the paper was always placed where it should be.

We wish only the best for you, Don (and family). Happy Retiremen t… enjoy every minute and get some sleep!
