U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will visit Minneapolis this weekend to raise money for his presidential campaign, making him the fifth Democratic 2020 hopeful to visit Minnesota this election cycle.
The Vermont senator will hold a fundraiser at Hook and Ladder Theater on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The event is billed as an “evening of entertainment, arts and culture” with remarks from Sanders.
Tickets to the event start at $27 and go up to $2,800. Those who have not bought tickets will have to cough up at least $100 because the $27 tickets sold out early.
Sanders will be the second presidential candidate to visit Minnesota this week. U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., drew several thousand people for an outdoor campaign speech at Macalester College in St. Paul on Monday.
Other candidates who have visited this year — aside from Minnesota’s own U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar — include former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke; South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg; and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.
Sanders is polling in third place behind former Vice President Joe Biden and Warren, according to an average of national polls compiled by RealClearPolitics.
