Prosecutors continue to consider charges against a woman arrested in a St. Paul homicide.

Police arrested Markeia Felicity Carlvin, 20, on suspicion of homicide on Monday night. Randy Malloyd Davis Jr., 20, was shot in a house in the Payne-Phalen area on Monday morning and died in the afternoon.

The Ramsey County attorney’s office had until noon Wednesday to charge Carlvin or release her from custody.

“This case is still under active review” by prosecutors, said Dennis Gerhardstein, a spokesman for the office, on Wednesday afternoon.

Carlvin, of Minneapolis, remained jailed Wednesday afternoon because she is also being held on an unrelated warrant.

Police cited Carlvin in March for receiving stolen property, a gross misdemeanor, at Southdale Center in Edina. She didn’t appear at a July 25 hearing and an arrest warrant was issued, according to a court document.

St. Paul Police have not detailed what led to Carlvin’s arrest in Davis’ shooting.

Officers responded to a house on Sims Avenue, near Earl Street, and found Davis shot in the chest in a bedroom.

Police were told the residence was being used as an Airbnb rental and, based on initial information, they heard there was a party going on, a police spokesman has said.
