Two teenagers and a semitrailer driver are fortunate to have walked away from a collision in Wisconsin.

The office of Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove reports that authorities responded to the two-vehicle crash about 2:26 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 10 and 410th Avenue in the rural township of Hartland, located near Ellsworth, about 40 miles from St. Paul.

Scene investigation, according to the news release, determined that a 2005 Dodge Stratus operated by a 17-year-old girl from Bay City, Wis., with one passenger, another 17-year-old girl from Ellsworth, was crossing U.S.10 and did not see the semi traveling eastbound.

The semi driver, Jerry Duane Ranvek, 63, of Kasson, Minn., attempted to maneuver around the Dodge, authorities say, but struck the car on the rear driver’s side and then overturned in the ditch.

Both of the drivers and the passenger were evaluated by Ellsworth EMS. All declined transport to the hospital.

The Pierce County sheriff’s office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Ellsworth Police Department, Ellsworth Fire and Ellsworth EMS.
