Cottage Grove is inaugurating a weekly bus service within the city, officials announced Thursday.

Starting Oct. 15, the Cottage Grove Bus Loop service will be operated by DARTS, a non-profit that provides  transportation in the metro area.

The service is designed for senior citizens, but anyone is free to ride.

Passengers will be able to ride north from the Walmart near Keats Avenue along East Point Douglas Road. Near Jamaica Avenue, the bus will stop at Cub Foods and senior citizen centers. It will continue north, stopping at the Hy-Vee supermarket and other locations near 80th Street.

The bus will run every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., completing five one-hour loops.

The fare will be $3.
