St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter took to social media on Wednesday night to invite the city of St. Paul to lunch at 11 a.m. Thursday — details to be announced.

“Further details are coming in the morning,” said Carter, in a cryptic follow-up social media tweet, addressed to no one in particular.
The lunch coincides with the arrival of President Donald Trump in Minneapolis, though the mayor made no reference to the president’s Thursday evening visit in his message.

At 9:21 pm, the mayor posted the following message to his official @MayorCarter Twitter feed:
“I believe caring for each other at the local level is the cure for our national divisions. Whether you support, oppose, or have questions about the direction we’re headed here in St. Paul, I’d love to hear about it in person. Will you come have lunch with me tomorrow?”
At 10:56 p.m., Carter further tweeted that the lunch location would be Public Kitchen + Bar at 229 E. Sixth St. in downtown. He added that “Saint Paul’s own Top Chef Justin Sutherland” would also attend.
We'll meet for lunch at 11:00 a.m. – further details are coming in the morning.
