Bob Blake

  • Age: 45

    Bob Blake
  • What qualifies you to hold this position? I grew up in Saint Paul specifically Ward 5 and have been a life long resident of the community. I’m a High School graduate of the Saint Paul School system and have received both my undergrad and graduate degree from Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. Being the first-ever Native American City councilperson in Saint Paul would make it great.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? 1.) Workforce Development training center at the old Maryland avenue K-Mart site. 2.) Community Gardens where neighbors grow food and grow community together. 3.) Meditation and other stress-relieving measures for our first responders addressing job-related fatigue. Taking care of them will allow them to be better to take care of the community.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? To serve the people who elected them to the position. To always listen to the people who elected them to the position. Never allowing one’s self to take advantage of the office for the betterment of one’s own situation. Be honest, caring, logical and brave. We the people, For the people, by the people!

    Amy Brendmoen
  • What qualifies you to hold this position? My love for St Paul and the family I’ve raised here led me to run for office in 2011. I’ve spent 7+ years working on behalf of my Ward 5 neighbors to help the city reach its potential, and I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made. As the current Council President, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the city and how to affect positive change.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Housing; without enough stable, affordable places to live, our residents and economy cannot thrive. Public Safety; seeking holistic, strategic investments and innovations in community-first public safety to meet today’s challenges and keep all people safe. Economic development; creating jobs and prosperity in every corner of St Paul.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? The role of city government is to equitably and efficiently provide basic services that create a safe and livable environment. Public services like clean water, safe roads and transit, emergency response, police, sanitation, recreation, environmental stewardship, and education impact everyone and decisions must be made with inclusive public input.

    Jamie Hendricks
  • What qualifies you to hold this position? Public policy training, work in healthcare, human services, and education. I have been an advocate for children, people with disabilities, and many who have been disenfranchised. I am willing to work in partnership with the community and recognize that my perspective is not the only perspective.
  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Public safety is number one on my list, without safe communities our families, businesses, and neighborhoods can not grow and thrive in a healthy manner. We must dig into the budget and find out where our money is being spent. We have no room for waste and should use taxpayer money only for necessities. Sustainable housing is also a top priority.
  • What do you think is the primary role of government? To be a part of making common-sense decisions, that bring forth neighborhoods that are livable, safe, and healthy.
