A Florida defensive end appears to have quietly exited the Gophers football program’s 2020 recruiting class this week.

Claude Larkins Jr., has removed mentions of Minnesota from his Twitter profile and is no longer included on a list of the U’s commitments by 247sports.com

Benjamin Onwuzo, Larkins’ high school teammate at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Fla., left the Gophers class on Wednesday. At that time, Larkins was listed as a “soft commit” by 247sports.

The Gophers’ class has had four other “de-commits,” which can also mean a mutual parting of ways depending on circumstances for each recruit. This short list includes Winona defensive end Aaron Witt, who moved his pledge from Minnesota to Iowa in June and then to Wisconsin in August.

Gophers coach P.J. Fleck has talked about how decommitments are a common part of recruiting around the country.

Minnesota currently has 22 commits in next year’s class; they can sign letters of intent to make their spot official during an early signing period that opens next Wednesday.
