Police are investigating a series of shootings, which they say happened in unrelated incidents, that left four people injured in St. Paul over the Memorial Day weekend.

On Tuesday at 12:40 a.m., officers responded to Frogtown after a report of a shooting. A short time later, a man and a woman who had been shot arrived at Regions Hospital. They were injured on Sherburne Avenue near Arundel Street.

On Monday about 5:30 p.m., a man who was shot in the Payne-Phalen area walked into Regions’ emergency room after receiving a ride to the hospital. Officers found evidence of gunfire in front of a Sims Avenue residence near Payne Avenue.

On Sunday about 4:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a person who had been shot downtown. An officer found a man on the sidewalk outside the Treasure Island Center on Wabasha Street near Sixth Street. He had been shot in the stomach.

Police did not note arrests in reports about the cases.

St. Paul Police also are investigating a weekend homicide after a 60-year-old man was found dead on the West Side on Saturday. Police have not released information about Cary Schmidt’s cause of death at a house in the 200 block of Belvidere Street East, but neighbors said they were told by officers he had been shot.
