'Jersey Shore' Ronnie Ortiz-Magro tased, detained by police on domestic violence charges

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” was tasered after police were called to a home he and girlfriend Jen Harley were staying in the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles.

Ortiz-Magro was detained on domestic violence charges.

Police were responding to a battery incident at the rental home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, Oct. 4.

“The suspect and victim were involved in some type of physical altercation, when officers arrived they had to deploy their tasers on the suspect and minor use of force occurred,” said an LAPD spokesman to the USA Today Network New Jersey. “There was a child at that location. That child was unharmed and the suspect was detained for domestic violence related charges.” 

The couple have an 18-month daughter, Ariana Sky.

A request for comment to Ortiz-Magro’s rep was not replied to as of press time. Ortiz-Magro’s Facebook page posted an article by US Weekly on the incident as their “statement.”

Ortiz-Magro was in custody as of 11 a.m. EST but he hadn’t been booked yet, according to the LAPD. Ortiz-Magro and Harley an event at Verge in West Hollywood on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 3, prior to the incident.

The couple have a history of domestic altercations and arrests. Harley allegedly threw an ashtray at Ortiz-Magro  during a brush up at the Hustler Club in Las Vegas on Dec. 31. He was struck in the face and filed a battery report with the police. Charges were later dropped.

That incident followed one in June of 2018 where Ortiz-Magro was caught in a seat belt outside of a car driven by Harley with their child inside in Las Vegas. He was dragged and suffered a rash and a bruised face. Harley was arrested but the case was “denied due to insufficient evidence,” said the Clark County district attorney at the time.

Harley has appeared on the “Jersey Shore: spin-off, “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” including on the Thursday episode.
